Frequently Asked Questions

How Do you Test for Allergies?

When you first arrive at your doctor’s office, you may be asked to fill out forms about your symptoms. Your doctor will examine you and focus on the areas of the body that are affected by allergy symptoms. Most allergies are well-treated with medicines, however, when medication treatments are not controlling allergy symptoms, an allergy test may be performed to identify specific pollens or substances to which you are allergic. These tests may include skin or blood tests.

What Allergies Do You Treat?

We treat a wide variety of allergies, both seasonal and perennial. This includes various types of molds, trees, grasses, weeds, dust mites, and cat, dog, or horse dander.

How do You Treat Allergies?

We treat allergies with medicines and the immunotherapy approach. Immunotherapy is a form of treatment that uses extracts of natural allergens, such as pollen, mold spores, dust mites, and animal dander, that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people. Allergen extracts are made up of tiny amounts of these allergens collected from their source in nature and dissolved in sterile liquid solutions for use by your doctor. Allergen injections or drops strengthen your immune system and increase your tolerance to unavoidable allergens. Allergy pills and nasal sprays are also sometimes helpful.
